Description: For this project we each found a picture that represented each of the 12 elements of art and then presented them to our class. I provided 5 examples here and my canva link. 

Rhythm/Movement: Rhythm and movement in art make your eyes follow a path through the picture. Artists create this by repeating lines, shapes, or colors to show motion or make the artwork feel alive.

Space (Depth): How we show things that are close or far away. Artists make things look deep by making objects in the front bigger and detailed, and tings in the back are smaller and lighter.
Color: Color is what we see when light reflects off obects. It has 3 properties: HUE - the name of the color, like red or bue, VALUE - how light or dark the color is, and INTENSITY - how bright or dull the color is. Colors can be warm (red, orange yellow) or cool (blue, green, and purple) and can be mixed to make new colors.
Texture: The way something feels when touched or its look and feel. Refers to the surface quality
Pattern: When the same shapes, lines, or colors are used over and over in an artwork. Patterns can be found in nature, like stripes on a zebra, or in designs, like checkerboards and polka dots.
Extension Activity: As an extension of the scavenger hunt and presentation, students will create their own original artwork that intentionally incorporates at least 5 of the 12 elements and principles of art they previously studied. After completing their piece, students will write a short artist statement explaining how they used each element or principle in their design and the choices they made in the creative process. This allows students to move from identification to application, demonstrating their understanding through hands-on creation and reflection.
